Help fill someone else’s belly while also filling your own!
“Foodies Feed” is Foodie Registry’s non-profit gift giving program. Through Foodies Feed our registrants are given the opportunity to give back to their communities by adding donation requests to one or more of our food and hunger related non-profit organizations to their gift registry. Please read the Foodies Feed/Benevity Terms of Use for full program details, but here are some frequently asked questions about the program:
How Does It Work?
Just like our gift certificate options, the registrant(s) request a maximum amount for each non-profit added to their registry. Gift givers can then make a donation in the registrants’ name(s) to the non-profit, in any amount up to the requested amount, subject to a $25 minimum.
Is Foodie Registry a non-profit organization?
No, but we partner with qualified non-profits on this program as a way of helping our registrants give back to the communities in which we do business.
Does Foodie Registry make money on non-profit donations?
No, Foodie Registry does not make any money on donations through Foodies Feed. However, we route all donations through an innovative donation platform provided by a software company called Benevity, without which we would not be able to facilitate the Foodies Feed program. Benevity's platform utilizes the American Endowment Foundation for charitable distributions (AEF is a s.501(c)(3) registered charity that acts as a Donor Advised Fund to distribute monies to other registered charities). AEF retains an administrative fee of 7% of all donations, although the full amount of all donations are still recognized for tax purposes. For more details please read the Foodies Feed/Benevity Terms of Use.
Can I use this donation as a tax deduction?
Yes – The Benevity.org donation platform we use will generate an email thanking you for the donation and including a pdf tax receipt on behalf of the American Endowment Foundation, the donor advised fund that is used to facilitate distribution of funds to chosen charities. AEF is a registered 501(c)(3) charity and the receipt is an official one for tax purposes. Please note Foodie Registry provides no tax advice and the applicability of a donation to your taxes can only be decided by you and your qualified tax adviser.
