Our Story
Hi! We’re Ben & Jennifer Reid, co-founders of Foodie Registry. We didn’t really want to register for gifts for our July 2008 wedding. But, try as we might to avoid registering for things we already had, the requests kept coming in – “where are you registered?” Finally, Jennifer relented and headed out to a department store in an attempt to create a traditional registry. Three hours and one near nervous breakdown later, Jennifer had a flash of inspiration and canned the traditional registry, raced home and began making a list of restaurants. As foodies in Chicago this was something we knew we would love – evenings out at our favorite restaurants and at new ones we wanted to try. When the list was complete, we sent it out to our guests, not sure what to expect.
We ended up receiving more than 75% of the gift certificates we “registered” for and it lasted us for months. We were happy because we couldn’t wait to use the gift certificates to embark on what became known as “Free Dinner Date Night”, and our guests were happy because they were able to give us the gift of a fun night out as a newly married couple. Foodie Registry was born.
