For twelve and half years, the River North favorite Crofton on Wells has been home to Chef/Owner Suzy Crofton's acclaimed "fine-dining without pretense" (Zagat Survey). Crofton brings more than 20 years of experience to her French-informed seasonal American cuisine, earning such distinctions as the Four Star Award from Mobil Travel Guide for four consecutive years, and a designation as one of Gourmet's Top Restaurants. Zagat also references "high quality" local ingredients, a "fabulous wine list" and "discreetly attentive" staff.  

Crofton has worked in the kitchen of such noted places as Sinclair's in Lake Forest as Pastry Chef, in Le Francais under noted Chef Jean Banchet as Chef de Partie, and has helmed the kitchen of Montparnasse in Naperville, a DiRona Award Recipient. She has twice been a James Beard Foundation Award semi-finalist for "Best Chef Great Lakes" in 2008 and 2009.  

At Crofton on Wells, she also designed the interior, creating a warm yet modern decor with candlelight, abstract art and a wavy symmetrical mirror anchoring the room.

Crofton on Wells is located at 535 North Wells Street, between Ohio and Grand in the heart of River North. We are open for dinner Monday through Saturday from 5-10 p.m. Our Private Dining Rooms accomodate 40 and the entire restaurant is available for private events every day of the week.
